Pride History

The month of June in the United States is commonly referred to as “Pride Month”. You most likely know the history behind this pride-filled month, but just in case, we are here to help!

Since the 1960s, there have been many “Gay Freedom Marches” around the nation. While these riots did not start the LGBT movement, it definitely shined a light and eventually got many talking.

In 1999 and 2000, President Bill Clinton declared June “Gay & Lesbian Pride Month”. President Barack Obama declared June LGBT Pride month during the years of his presidency 2009-2016.

Now, parades, floats, picnics, marches, summer festivals, etc. are some of the main ways to support the LGBTQ+ community during the month of June. In 1978, the iconic rainbow flag was adopted (with slightly different colors than today) and flown with PRIDE.

Skin Research Laboratories® wants to celebrate its “PRIDE”-ful customers. During this month of June, we will be having a contest for all to join. Create a colorful and prideful makeup look and tag us, or use the hashtag #srlpridemakeupchallenge for a chance to win neuLASH® lash enhancing serum for a YEAR!

We will be posting our favorite looks throughout the month and announcing the winner on June 30, 2020.
